DISCOVERY COMMUNICATIONS STANDARDIZES
ON TERANEX VIDEO PROCESSORS
Orlando, FL. (April 7th, 2006) - Teranex, a division of Silicon Optix and leader in providing high performance video processing solutions to the broadcast and post-production market, today announced that Discovery Communications is expanding their use of Teranex video processors.

Teranex’s 3RU and 6RU Video Computer platforms perform over 15 trillion operations per second and allow for rapid tuning of software algorithms. Discovery has been using the Teranex 6RU most recently to convert HD 1080i60 content from the US to 1080i50 for European distribution.
”We were attracted to the Teranex Video Computer platform because of its flexibility and its strong performance. When we first purchased the Teranex four years ago, our initial needs were primarily for up and down conversion, but with the launch of ‘Discovery HD’, and our international HD service, our cross conversion needs have grown exponentially,” continued Riordan.

Recently, Silicon Optix and Teranex announced the Realta HQV® video processing engine, a powerful and fully programmable single-chip video processor that brings Teranex’s Video Computer platform to the home entertainment and professional large-area digital display markets. Realta is available in versions for the consumer market in addition to the professional market.
